Santa Cruz, at sunsetCommon questions about getting started, session packages, how evaluations run, and what to expect the first time you walk in.
Not at all. We work with everyone from complete beginners to competitive athletes. Every program starts with an assessment so we can meet you where you are and build from there. Our coaches specialize in teaching proper movement patterns and scaling workouts to your current ability level.
For package holders (8-session or unlimited), we ask for 24-hour notice to cancel or reschedule. Late cancellations or no-shows may forfeit that session. Drop-in clients can reschedule anytime before their appointment. We understand life happens-just communicate with us and we'll work with you.
We accept all major credit cards, debit cards, and ACH bank transfers. Session packages can be purchased online or in-person. We also offer Venmo and Zelle for drop-in sessions.
Evaluations include VO₂ Max testing and Resting Metabolic Rate (RMR). You'll schedule a 30-60 minute appointment where we walk you through the testing process, collect data, and review results immediately afterward. Within 24 hours, you'll receive a detailed report with training zones, metabolic data, and actionable recommendations.
Absolutely. We offer semi-private training (2-3 people) at a preferred rate per person. It's a great option if you want personalized coaching with the accountability and energy of training with someone else. Contact us to set up a partner session.
We've curated our equipment for functional movement and strength training: Rogue squat rack, NohRd equipment including the SprintBok self-propelled treadmill, Wahoo Kickr bike, CLMBR machines, Jacob's Ladder XL, free weights, lat pulldown, bench, competition kettlebells, maces, ski erg, rope machine, water rowers, specialty bars (trap bar, safety squat bar), sleds, and recovery tools (foam rollers, massage guns, bands). Every piece is chosen to promote natural movement patterns.
Yes. Our coaches provide nutrition guidance based on your RMR data, training volume, and goals. We don't prescribe meal plans-we teach you how to fuel your body intelligently. For more in-depth nutrition support, we can refer you to registered dietitians we trust in the Santa Cruz area.
For scheduled sessions, we ask for 24-hour notice to cancel or reschedule. Late cancellations or no-shows may forfeit that session. Session packages are non-refundable but can be paused for up to 3 months if needed (injury, travel, etc.).
Yes. We have a dedicated parking lot for clients and trainers. No circling for street parking or walking blocks from a garage. Parking is free, well-lit, and secure for early morning and evening sessions.
What you need to know about renting the studio, bringing your clients, and partnering with Mavericks as an independent coach.
You'll need current liability insurance, CPR/AED certification, and at least one nationally recognized credential (CSCS, NASM, ACE, USAW, etc.). We also look for alignment with our coaching standards-movement screen proficiency, client-first ethos, and professionalism. You'll complete an in-person demo session before onboarding.
We offer three access tiers: drop-in (no commitment, standard rate), monthly credits (prepaid hours at a lower rate), or recurring reservations (locked weekly schedule, lowest per-session cost). Rates vary by time slot and session length. Clients pay their trainer directly. Visit our pricing page or use the profit calculator to model your exact costs.
